Heloise and Ted (owners / operators)
February 2015
We are Farmers, Registered Professional Foresters, Parents, Volunteers, Advocates, Visionaries, and Business Owners. We moved to Bouchie Lake in 2002 and began our farm - Moose Meadows Farm (www.moosemeadowsfarm.ca). We love where we live and are thankful for the opportunities residing in the North Cariboo have offered to us and our family. In 2014, while out horseback riding with a friend, Heloise discussed the idea of re-opening the “farm and feed store” at 2338 Bonny Road as a storefront for Moose Meadows Farm. It became a reality in February, 2015. We are incredibly grateful to the staff that work at the BLCS and are part of the Team. Everyone is part time (this includes ourselves) and together things come together. When not at the store, Ted can found moving hay in the daylight and/or working at one of his consulting gigs (he is a local FireSmart Representative) while Heloise has been working fulltime for BC Timber Sales (Province of BC) for the past 8 years as the Indigenous Relations Team Lead. In April, 2025, Heloise will be leaving that position and looks forward to spending more time at the store along with returning to more on-farm activities. Here at the BLCS, Heloise manages the store while Ted looks after much of the gardening section and drives Tangerine, the forklift.
What we do.
The Bouchie Lake Country Store / BLCS opened in February, 2015 and is dedicated to providing a unique retail experience to our customers of which many are our friends. The store’s goals are to provide excellent and friendly customer service, to offer a variety of high quality and useful farm animal and pet supplies and related goods, farm and artisan products, home and harvest items, workshops and seminars, and other compatible items with a strong focus on sustainability and locally produced goods. The store also has a strong community focus. We are deeply committed to our community and help out whenever we can through fundraising and /or promoting local initiatives. We acknowledge with respect that the BLCS is located on the traditional territory of the Lhtako Dene Nation.
